Le Terroir: the shallow geology of Kent
Worsted wool weft on a cotton warp
98 cm x 152 cm.

This one-of-a-kind tapestry was made as a lower sash window draught stopper, but is also decorative - which was typical of the medieval tapestries. Lined with calico to protect the back of the tapestry and hung from a rod fastened into the calico lining.

Gillian Bull has woven art and furnishing tapestries since the mid 1970s. She continues to explore appropriate uses for this ancient technique.

Alongside the tapestry you will receive two documents: 1. a key to the geology and 2. a Caring for Tapestries sheet.Lined with calico to protect the back of the tapestry.
