Since 2012, Beach Creative has worked with the local community to provide much needed support, to develop a community of creative people who feel comfortable and welcomed into cultural spaces. Below you can read about some of our most proud projects & collaborations
Cultural Ambassadors is a twelve-week course for adult learners who have not previously had the opportunity to study art and design at higher education level. It offers the chance to build a portfolio for application to Foundation or Access in Art and Design, the confidence to develop an arts practice, and the networks within which to continue their learning.
This FREE course is funded by the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) and delivered by Beach Creative, and runs each year.
In 2020 & 2021, the course has been delivered online to a larger cohort, the demand was so high that another group of eight started in May 2021 to accommodate those on the waiting list. Many of the participants have gone on to apply for the Foundation/Access courses in Arts & Design at UCA to pursue their creative education.
Beach Creative has worked closely with local primary & secondary schools to provide exhibition spaces for their large scale & wall hung creative projects.
Beach Creative has proudly worked alongside & supported Take Off, a local Mental Health and Well Being charity. Since 2018, Beach Creative has housed a fortnightly creative group for the Take Off group which aims to support the well being of the participants through creative activities. This group has currently relocated due to COVID restrictions but we remain in close communication with the Take Off team
Beach Creative has been registered Arts Award Centre since 2014 and has successfully delivered 2 Bronze Arts Award courses & 1 Silver Arts Award courses for young people aged 11-17. These courses were delivered onsite by Emily Parris, a photographer and art educator based at one of our studios at Beach Creative. These courses have seen 15 young people achieve a qualification in the arts which has supported each of them in their arts education. During the pandemic, Emily has continued to delivered Arts Award courses virtually with the support of UCA which has now seen over 100 young people achieving their Bronze Arts Award.
