CHAIR : An Open Show
06 September – 19 September
Exhibition Preview :
Friday 06 September,
18:00-20:00
Chairs are one of the most ubiquitous objects in our lives.
In terms of furniture they are unique, both mirroring and supporting our bodies. Like us they can have legs, arms, backs, feet and seats, but rarely heads. All other furniture consists mainly of variations of the box. But chairs are different, being custom made to fit our frame, they are in effect a reflection of our selves and carry some of that personality.

Throughout the day, we use them, and in that time probably several different ones. They came in many guises; armchairs, dining chairs, deck chairs, swivel chairs, high chairs, wheelchairs, carver chairs, captains chairs, swing chairs, rocking chairs, comfy chairs, thrones and even, still in some places, electric chairs.
So important is the chair that its name is given to the leaders and governors of many institutions: The Chair.
Max Sheppard
20 September – 26 September
Exhibition Preview:
Friday 20 September
18:00 - 20:00
Coming up next, an exhibition of works by abstract artist Max Sheppard.

Max creates unique 3D wood assemblages, exploring the relationship between material and space. Each piece invites the viewer to create their own narrative.

'I work with wood, plastics and metal to
create my angular, abstractly shaped
wall-based constructions.
I shape my materials by hand tools and assemble the work in a spontaneous puzzle-like manner.
I like the characteristics of the wood / materials I find to influence my decisions for composition and paint colour palette.'

Twisted Symmetries

Exhibition Preview:
Friday 04 October
18:00 -20:00

This year's exhibition by the Paradox Artists Collective is titled 'Twisted Symmetries', it looks at how easily and substantially the appearance of anything can change when viewed in a mirror or through a distorted lens.
Such lenses or filters can be either physical or psychological. Previous Paradox Artists Collective shows have addressed subjects such as the Home, Play and Nostalgia. 'Twisted Symmertries' looks at the other dimensions of everyday life and being.
