This year's exhibition in celebration of International Women’s Day showcases work by four female artists: Dystin Johnson, Shanaz Khanom, Louise Stewart, and Veronica Tonge alongside work by A-Level Fine Art students at Herne Bay High School.
Entitled with the campaign theme for International Women's Day 2024 'Inspire Inclusion'. This Beach Creative exhibition collaborates with students from Herne Bay High School for the 8th year in a row as well as practicing female artists. Beach Creative strives to elevate women and girl's participation and achievements in this way, promoting their creative and artistic talent.
Artist Shanaz Khanom, exhibits 'Faceless Women', drawing inspiration from memories and emotions rooted in her Bangladeshi and Muslim heritage. Each piece presenting 'faces' amid the challenges of war, climate devastation..the paradox of the removal of facial features aims to establish a connection, urging viewers to transcend cultural identities and see themselves in these women.
When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.
Artist and actress Dystin Johnson celebrates the colours of the Suffrage Movement with paintings that are an exploration of opposites and polarity.. Purple for dignity, green for resilience and strength, white for purity.
Veronica Tonge, artist and curator, presents 'Gender Neutral Paradox', a performative experiment in which she explores 'the dungaree' as a supposed gender neutral fashion garment and the mixed messages in the language of clothing.
Artist Louise Stewart plays with the female body and its different facets, 'with what started as a thought, dream or my own mind playing tricks on me, I created the pieces you see on the wall today'.
This fantastic exhibition will be running until Thursday 21 March 2024, if you would like to find out further details on any of the artists exhibiting, email mediabeachcreative@gmail.com
